About NBI
At Nutritional Biochemistry, Inc (NBI) we formulate and manufacture products that give you results. Started by Dr. John Neustadt, a practicing clinician and researcher who couldn’t find formulas he needed to help his patients and family, NBI products solve two problems he was having. Existing products on the market didn’t contain the dose or combination of nutrients used in clinical trials and actually shown to work. Equally frustrating, other companies would cite studies on their websites, but then use lower amounts of nutrients than what was actually used in the study, or use entirely different nutrients that weren’t supported by the research.
NBI was founded in 2006 and we’re proud to be making a difference in people’s lives all over the world. NBI has shipped dietary supplements to more than 15 countries and is a leader in delivering products formulated and manufactured to the highest industry standards.
NBI maintains a database of more than 10,000 medical journal citations and articles that is constantly being updated and expanded. This allows NBI to continue to innovate and create products that do what they say they’ll do. Not because we think they will, but because that’s what independent studies show. That’s the NBI difference and our promise to you.
Unlike other companies, research on nutrients used in some of NBI’s formulas has been evaluated by FDA scientists. The same research used to create powerful dietary supplements was used as the foundation for a spin-off pharmaceutical company, NBI Pharmaceuticals, Inc. Started in 2010, NBI Pharmaceuticals is dedicated to creating natural, non-toxic products for rare diseases. NBI Pharmaceuticals submitted research to the FDA and the FDA agreed that the nutrients have the potential to help people. NBI Pharmaceuticals received numerous US FDA Orphan Drug Designations for natural products to potentially treat cancers, neurological disorders and mitochondrial diseases. NBI Pharmaceuticals has scoped out development of its first product, MK4®, for people with myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) and acute myeloid leukemia (AML).
And while NBI’s products are dietary supplements and not approved by the FDA to diagnose, treat, prevent or cure disease, we’re so convinced that the science supports what we do that we’re proud knowing that the same nutrients submitted by NBI Pharmaceuticals for evaluation by the FDA’s Office of Orphan Products Development (OOPD) are one NBI uses in its dietary supplements. NBI stands 100% behind the quality of our formulations and the science on which they’re based.
NBI is and always has been, a family-owned company. We don’t manufacture anything we wouldn’t take ourselves or give to our own family. No matter what we do, our promise to our customers is uncompromising quality. NBI is a name you can trust. But don’t take our word on it. Spend time on our website, learn about our products and educate yourself on the hundreds of research citations and studies that they’re based on.

Dr. Neustadt earned his naturopathic medical degree from Bastyr University where he was awarded the Founder’s Award for academic and clinical excellence. He opened his clinic, Montana Integrative Medicine (MIM), in 2005 in Bozeman, Mont. Dr. Neustadt specialized in hard-to-treat, chronic degenerative diseases through an integrative approach that emphasized identifying and correcting the underlying causes of disease. For his clinical work, Dr. Neustadt was the first naturopathic doctor to be voted Best Doctor among all physicians in his area. When the award was announced, this is what the local newspaper had to say: “It is noteworthy that Dr. Neustadt did not win ‘best naturopathic doctor;’ he won best doctor. Perhaps for his expertise in nutritional biochemistry…Perhaps, it is his intuitive and holistic approach to health care. Perhaps it is for the extra hours he puts in at no charge. But likely it’s the combination of all of these characteristics that set him apart. This is a big day for naturopaths everywhere. Congratulations, Dr. Neustadt.”
In 2011, Dr. Neustadt closed his medical clinic and moved with his family back to San Diego, CA. His mom was terminally ill and he wanted to be close to her to help her in the last few years of her life. Dr. Neustadt loves spending time with his wife, business partner and best-selling author, Romi, their two children and dogs.
